Fixed Orthodontic Appliances
Conventional fixed orthodontic appliances can be made from stainless steel, titanium, gold or cosmetic white ceramic materials. All the appliances that we use utilise self-ligation (e.g. Damon System; InOvation C) which enhances oral hygiene, limits unsightly discolouration between visits and may have other benefits such as slightly reduced treatment times.

Lingual (Invisible) Orthodontic Appliances
Lingual orthodontic appliances can be provided for those conscious
about having visible braces attached to the front surfaces of the
teeth. These appliances are virtuously invisible as they are
attached to the back (lingual) surfaces of the teeth. They can be
used to produce high quality results in cases requiring complex
tooth movements. At the London Specialist Orthodontic Practice, we
use the InCognito system which has the advantage of improved patient
comfort, less speech interference and better quality results as the
appliance is fully customised.

Invisalign
Invisalign can be used for those conscious about the appearance of
fixed appliances where simpler tooth movements are required. The
Invisalign system uses a series of clear removable aligners that
gradually move teeth to their desired position. A major advantage of
Invisalign, apart from being almost invisible, is that the appliance
can be removed for eating, tooth brushing and important social
engagements.

Functional Appliances
Functional appliances are removable or fixed appliances, that
posture the lower jaw forwards, and are very effective at addressing
incisor protrusion in children in relatively short periods of time.
Fixed appliances are normally used after functional appliances for
fine detailing.
Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADS)
Temporary anchorage devises (also known as mini-screws or
micro-implants) can be used in many cases to avoid the use of
headgear and produce high quality results.
